Handball final (03/07/2017) : 2017-07-21

After winning the Handball tournament last week, our team progressed onto the local finals, where we faced two other schools, Adderley and Regents Park. We all played each other and whoever won the most or had the most points at the end, advanced into the School Games final to represent the Small Heath Partnership on Friday 14th July! Our first match was against Adderley and we got off to a great start with Amina and Salahuddin scoring early goals to put us in control. Asad, in goal for us, made some terrific saves to maintain our advantage and Swalaheen grabbed a quickfire double to extend our lead further. We played so well and were able to minimise their chances throughout the match and ran out 6-1 winners! Our second match against Regents Park was a different affair. We looked a little tired after battling so hard in the first match and they were able to exploit this by twice taking the lead, although on both occassions we were able to quickly equalise. In the second half though, Regents Park scored another two goals, whereas we only managed to find the net once despite giving it our all. Regents Park closed out the game and won 4-3, which also meant each side had won once and lost once so the only thing separating us was goal difference. There were only two goals between all three sides but thankfully, because of our big win over Adderley, we finished in 1st place on the day! We have now qualified for the School Games final next Friday which will be amazing!
