Pakistan v South Africa ODI (07/06/2017) : 2017-07-21

We were lucky enough to have the chance to take a group of children to Edgbaston Cricket stadium to watch the Pakistan v South Africa ODI in the ICC trophy. We arrived and the game was underway with South Africa batting but their innings quickly took a down turn as the Pakistan bowling attack removed the opening 4 South Africa batsmen for just 90 runs. The atmosphere was building and getting better by the minute and after reaching 118-6 the South Africans were in danger of collapsing as they couldn’t handle Hassan Ali’s fast bowling as he took 3 wickets and 2 catches but South Africa rallied and David Miller scored 75 not out to help them finish on a respectable 219. Pakistan were off to a flying start with their batting asĀ debutant opener Fakhar Zaman helped himself to 31 from 23 ballsĀ before the South African bowlers took 2 wickets and slowed the Pakistani batters down. The rain began to fall and the match was halted with the scores close. Play was unable to continue and Pakistan were awarded the win using the Duckworth-Lewis method!
