Year 5 cricket festival (04/07/2017) : 2017-07-21

We took a team of year 4 and 5 cricketers to Handsworth Cricket Club to take part in a Chance to Shine Cricket festival where they played brilliantly. Our first match was against Groves School who chose to bat first and we were able to take several wickets in their innings through some excellent bowling from Sahd, Ibrahim and Ahdam! We fielded really well too, preventing them from scoring many runs and when we batted, we found the boundaries several times which meant we ran out comfortable winners in the end! However, our second match was as tight as it possibly could have been! We batted first this time around and did a great job to score 260 thanks to some big hits from Samir and Adam. When we were bowling, we kept it tight for the first few overs but then Wilkes Green picked up their run rate and narrowed the gap between the scores. The match came down to the final over and unfortunately for us Wilkes Green were able to score 2 more boundaries which meant they won the match by 1 run! Our final match was against Groves C and we were fielding first and were able to take a few wickets to reduce their score and similarly to our previous matches we put in a very strong batting performance with Ibrahim and Rehan scoring quickly to give us a win by over 100 runs! We had an excellent day out and were unfortunate to miss out on the final by losing 1 match by 1 run, but nevertheless we displayed some great cricket all day!
